2022 Preview

For the second straight year, the Farmers advanced to the Class 3A state title game with hopes of returning for a third straight trip and clinching its first championship since 2013. It would make for a storybook ending for all-state tailback and LSU commit Trey Holly (2,633 yards, 33 TDs), who remains 876 yards shy of the Louisiana career rushing record.

Holly will be just one of the six veterans tasked with leading the offensive charge for Union Parish following the loss of quarterback Cole Dison as well as offensive linemen Jayden Washington and Raylon Hunter to graduation. However, the Farmers always seem to reload instead of rebuild so look for the next man up to fill the big shoes. Junior athlete Jordan Hill is projected to lead from the quarterback position while tight end Armani Shelbon is expected to play a big part. Sophomore linemen Josh Moy and Demark Knighton will also step up to play big men up front for Holly and crew.

On defense, Union brings back six starters from 2021 including leading tacklers Toriano Traylor, Cam Hill and Tyquereis Wilson to help fill the holes left by those who departed the program following the 2021 season. D'Antwone Hopkins returns as the team's leading interceptions leader while Holly continues to serve as a threat on punt return.
