Claiborne Christian, St. Charles Take Home Select Baseball Titles To Close 2022 Season

HAMMOND — Claiborne Christian and St. Charles closed out the 2022 baseball season by posting shutout victories in their respective state championship games on Monday.

Claiborne Christian defeated Grace Christian, 8-0, in the Division V finals to bring home the school’s seventh title.

A.J. Allen picked up the complete game shutout with four hits surrendered over seven innings while striking out seven. The Crusaders racked up nine hit sin the game with Nick Womack and Sprague Zizzi collecting multiple hits to lead the offensive effort.

In the Division III title game, St. Charles Catholic took down St. Thomas Aquinas, 2-0, for its first title win since 2019 and second in program history.

Michael Hotard was the winning pitcher after having tossed seven innings, allowing no runs on one hit, striking out six and walking zero.

Jackson Monica went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Comets offensively while the team collected five total hits.
