Homer’s Williams, Ouachita Christian’s Lovelady Nab Weekly Football Honors

This week’s GeauxPreps Football Players of the Week honors are presented by Chevyland.com and awarded to two deserving student-athletes who served as game changers for their respective schools.

Offense: Gregory Williams, Homer High School – RB – Senior

In a high-scoring showdown, Homer High School’s Gregory Williams left an indelible mark on the field, earning him the Offensive Player of the Week title. Williams was the driving force behind his team’s 55-38 victory over General Trass. The senior running back was an offensive powerhouse, amassing an astonishing 275 yards on the ground, with an eye-popping average of nearly 15 yards per carry. Williams reached the end zone an incredible five times, accounting for the majority of the Pelicans’ touchdowns in the game. His impact didn’t stop there, as he displayed remarkable versatility by contributing on the defensive side as well. Williams racked up an impressive 10 tackles and even recovered a crucial fumble. His exceptional all-around performance showcased his leadership and skill, solidifying his place as this week’s Offensive Player of the Week.

Defense: Noah Lovelady, Ouachita Christian – LB – Senior

Noah Lovelady’s outstanding defensive prowess earned him the Defensive Player of the Week accolade for his stellar performance in Ouachita Christian’s commanding 31-6 victory over Mansfield. The senior linebacker was a defensive force to be reckoned with, recording an astounding 13 solo tackles along with 10 assists during Friday’s game. Lovelady’s tackling prowess was instrumental in his team’s dominant defensive display, as they held their opponent to a mere six points. Additionally, he showcased his ability to disrupt the opposition’s offense by recording a crucial sack and two tackles for a loss, totaling eight yards. Lovelady’s dedication to his craft and unwavering commitment to his team’s success makes him a standout on the field, and his contributions were paramount in securing the victory. His exceptional defensive skills and leadership are why he is the deserving Defensive Player of the Week.
