LHSAA Football Week 3 Top Performances

Offense

Abbeville’s Blake Saddler was dominant in Friday’s game where he rushed for over 320 yards on just 13 carries and scored five touchdowns to help seal the 43-0 victory over Vermilion Catholic.

Bossier’s Carlos Butler, Jr. has turned the Bearkats in the “AirKats” this season with his performances through the air. He was not missing a step in Friday’s win over Logansport where he completed 21-of-27 passes and threw for over 400 yards and five touchdowns.

Kaplan fullback Caden Campisi was electric Friday night with 253 rushing yards on 29 attempts with three touchdowns scored in a 31-28 victory over Northwest.

Loreauville stayed perfect on the season due to the help of quarterback Calep Jacob who was effective both on the ground and through the air in a 41-8 win over Kinder. Jacob completed five passes for 119 yards and one touchdown while rushing for over 100 yards on eight carries accompanied by three more touchdowns.

Lutcher’s D’Wanye Winfield proved what Louisiana football was all about in a border battle victory against West Harrison, MS Friday night. The Bulldog quarterback could not be stopped on the ground nor through the air as he competed nine passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns. He added 193 yards on the ground as well as four touchdowns where he average 19.3 yard per carry.

Ouachita Christian’s Landon Graves amassed 253 passing yards in a 47-12 district win over Sicily Island. Graves completed nine of 13 passes in the game and completed five touchdown passes to help the Eagles remain perfect in league play.

Patterson’s Caylon David threw for over 265 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-18 win over Central Catholic. He completed 16-of-22 passes and also added two rushing touchdowns along with 49 yards.

Pine Prairie’s Elijah George finished off a 48-20 win over Buckeye with 272 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 17 touches. The tailback averaged over 16 yards per carry in the game.

Pope John Paul II’s George Arata rushed for 245 yards and five touchdowns in last week’s victory over Thomas Jefferson. Arata averaged 17. 5 yards per carry in the game.

Port Allen’s Brennan Gibson was key to the Pelican’s shutout win over Livonia Friday night. The wide receiver caught three passes in the games and scored on two for 86 total receiving yards.

Varnado’s Tyler Whitfield rushed for 149 yards and reached pay dirt four times in a 26-14 victory over Northlake Christian. Whitfield was essential on defense as well with seven tackles in the game.

Defense

Bossier’s Christian Johnson helped limit the Logansport offense in Friday’s 39-14 victory over the Tigers as he totaled eight tackles, two for a loss, and blocked a field goal in the process.

Covington’s Bryce Blackwell finished with 15 total tackles in Friday’s contest. Nine of his tackles were solo while also recording a sack in the game.

Ouachita Christian’s Noah Lovelady was electric in Friday night’s victory against Sicily Island. The linebacker totaled 10 tackles, five for a loss, and turned in two sacks along with a fumble recovery.

Port Allen’s Robert Amacker turned in a great effort on defense Friday night with nine tackles, seven of which were for a loss, as well as four sacks and forced fumble to help lead the Pelicans to a 31-0 win.
