In the latest GeauxPreps.com High School Football Polls presented by Chevyland.com, the top spot changed for one classification as Homer jumped into the No. 1 position in Class 1A.
The Pelicans manhandled district foe Ringgold, 65-8, Friday night. However, the outcome of Ouachita Christian’s clash with Class 5A Ouachita Parish caused the changed in this week’s poll as the Eagles dropped their first game of the season in a 48-28 loss.
Edna Karr remained atop the Class 5A poll after taking down Brother Martin, 40-7. The Cougars lead a strong pack of teams including Catholic of Baton Rouge, Destrehan, Acadiana and Zachary, who make up the rest of the top 5.
In Class 4A, Neville dropped three spots to No. 7 following a 27-21 loss while undefeated Westgate holds the lead in the poll. There was no change in the Class 3A poll with each top 10 team beating their opponent.
Oak Grove and Avoyelles each suffered losses Friday night dropping them down towards the bottom half of the Class 2A poll while Calvary Baptist jumped back into the top three behind Many and Newman.
In Class 1A, Homer and Ouachita Christian hold the top spots followed by Vermilion Catholic, Southern Lab and Logansprt.
St. Augustine, Parkway and West Monroe (Class 5A), Cecilia (Class 4A), North Caddo (Class 2A) and St. Frederick (Class 1A) broke into the GeauxPreps football polls this week after having been unranked previously.
