Jake Brown picked up right where he left off last season with an opening day complete game shutout over last season’s Class 4A runner-up North Vermilion, where he fanned 16 batters and allowed just three hits. The LSU signee worked two additional innings against last year’s Division IV champion Calvary Baptist, striking out five to secure the victory. In addition to his work on the mound, Brown batted 8-for-17 (.471 AVG) and smacked two of three total home runs on the week in a 10-0 shutout over Benton. He drove in five while stealing two bases.
