Cedar Creek 7th Grader Kicker Stands Out In Friday’s Win

A placekicker’s job is always important as it could provide the one point needed for a close victory.

In Cedar Creek’s case, it provided an opportunity for one of its youngest players an opportunity to showcase his talent.

Davis Long, a seventh-grader at the Ruston school, converted six extra-point attempts in Friday’s district victory over River Oaks.

It was surely an experience he will treasure throughout his prep career.

Natchitoches Central Remains Perfect In Upset Win Over C.E. Byrd

Natchitoches Central continued to rewrite its own history book Friday night as the Chiefs took down undated C.E. Byrd on the road to stretch its winning streak to five games.

In the school’s first victory over the Yellow Jackets since the 2010 season, the Chiefs held the home squad to just 100 yards rushing.

The last time that Natchitoches Central started the season 5-0 was back in 1996. The Chiefs will travel into Shreveport on Friday for a district contest with winless Southwood.

Dutchtown’s Dylan Sampson Breaks All-Time Rushing Record

Dutchtown tailback Dylan Sampson etched his name in the program’s record book Friday night breaking the all-time rushing record.

The Tennessee commit has rushed 385 times for 4,300 yards (11.2 ypc) during his prep career and has scored 52 times. Sampson has rushed for 745 yards in four games this season along with 12 touchdowns.

In addition to the all-time rushing record, Sampson also holds the school’s single game rushing record as well with 287 yards on 21 carries.

The career rushing record was previously held by BCS national champion and All-Pro tailback Eddie Lacy.

Louisiana High School Football’s Longest Winning Streak Snapped

Lafayette Christian’s 13-game winning streak was snapped Friday in a 38-17 loss to nationally-ranked Catholic of Baton Rouge.

The streak was the longest amongst all classifications in the LHSAA. LCA’s last loss prior to Friday night occurred almost a year to the day as Acadiana defeated the Knights, 21-0, on Oct. 2, 2020.

Madison Prep now has the longest streak in the state with 12 consecutive victories.
