The Extra Point: Trey Holly Becomes Louisiana’s All-Time Rush Leader

Union Parish’s Trey Holly Sets Louisiana’s All-Time Rushing Mark

Senior tailback Trey Holly made history Friday night as he became the state’s career rushing king as the Farmers defeated Bastrop, 62-12.

Holly surpassed Nick Brossette’s previous mark of 8,704 following a 274-yard performance capped by a touchdown run that helped to set the new record. With six weeks remaining in the regular season plus a five-week playoff schedule, the future LSU Tiger has an opportunity to surpass 10,000 yards in his career.

In one of the highest-scoring high school football games in recent memory, the Airline Vikings outlasted district foe Benton, 75-59, as both teams combined for over 1,200 yards of total offense.

The 134 total points are believed to be the most since Abbeville defeated Alexandria, 71-70, in 1996 and Acadiana’s 77-41 win over Parkway in the 2013 Class 5A state title game and Benton losing to Farmerville, 75-38, in the 1987 playoffs.

Airline finished with 366 passing yards and 201 rushing yards while Benton passed for 309 yards and rushed for 372.
