The fifth edition of the GeauxPreps.com High School Football Polls presented by Chevyland.com displays some major shake-ups following another exciting week of gridiron action.
In Class 4A, a pair of Lafayette area teams faced their first season loss as St. Thomas More fell to Catholic of Baton Rouge and Lafayette Christian lost to Ruston. Those losses allowed groups such as De La Salle, Warren Easton and Neville to jump into the top five.
University Lab reclaimed the top spot in Class 3A following E.D. White’s three-point loss to a talented Woodlawn squad out of Baton Rouge. The Cubs were chosen as the preseason favorite. Sterlington fell from the top 10 following its loss to undefeated Carroll in district play.
In Class 2A, Notre Dame and St. Charles Catholic took major dives following losses on Friday night. That allowed Oak Grove, Calvary Baptist and Avoyelles to move into the top five. Many and Newman share the top two positions after an exciting battle on Friday night.
Glenbrook broke into the Class 1A poll following a convincing win over previously ranked Haynesville. The Apaches have now won 10 consecutive games dating back to last season. Haynesville dropped out of the rankings while Ouachita Christian continues to hold the top spot.
Archbishop Rummel (Class 5A), Leesville (Class 4A), Iowa and Carroll (Class 3A), Dunham (Class 2A) and Glenbrook (Class 1A) all broke into the GeauxPreps football polls this week after having been unranked previously.
