Capital Area
No. 4 Warren Easton (0-0) at No. 10 Scotlandville (1-0)
Scotlandville High School – Baton Rouge, Louisiana • Friday, Sept. 17 • 7 PM
Warren Easton is eager to begin its high school football season just weeks after having to shut down due to issues stemming from Hurricane Ida. What better way to kick of the 2021 campaign than by making the trip over to Baton Rouge for a date with Scotlandville. Both squads are ladened with talent and will most likely have a good shot of making deep playoff appearances. Are the Eagles acclimated enough to compete all four quarters or can Scotlandville take advantage of playing at home with a win already under its belt.

Central Louisiana
Eunice (1-1) at Avoyelles (2-0)
Avoyelles High School – Moreauville, Louisiana • Friday, Sept. 17 • 7 PM
Avoyelles have been on fire as of late with its no-nonsense offense averaging 54 points in the first two games of the season. With no punting formations in its playbook along with executing on-side kickoffs, the Mustangs are a force to be reckoned with during each week of the season. Eunice suffered a season-opening loss but cruised to a big win over Jennings and highly-recruited tailback Trevor Etienne. Could the Bobcats provide an answer to Avoyelles’ offensive attack and junior tailback Carlos Bazert who rushed for 378 yards and four touchdowns against Carroll.

It will be the first game for both squads so expect some rust but don’t worry because the coaches will have their kids ready. The game is set to be televised on ESPN 2 with kickoff at 6 PM. Captain Shreve has the ultimate task. Can it take down Trey Holly and the Fighting Farmers from Union Parish? With huge wins over top-ranked Many and Class 5A’s Airline, Union is indeed one of the teams to watch for in the postseason but the Gators will have much to say about that this Friday night. With perhaps one of its best teams in recent history, Captain Shreve looks to keep its offense rolling while the defense, who has allowed just nine points so far this season, will be tasked with stopping the run game that has plagued so many teams over the last few years.
