2022 Preview

The outlook is bright in Webster Parish as Spencer Heard's squad readies for the 2022 season with numerous underclassmen that bring back a wealth of experience from a year ago.

Although the Tide brings back just 12 starters, a majority of last year's sophomores were thrust into playing time against some of the top programs in north Louisiana, supplying them with a wealth of knowledge that most starters only get headed as a junior.

On offense, seven starters return but it will be the duo of Makhi Reed and Kielyn Combs that will help to make a difference in the trenches while senior tailback Daylen Robinson hopes to improve upon a 1,007-yard rushing effort in 2021. Top receiving targets Jaylin Williams and Alvin White will also be key figures in Heard's offense while Jakobe Jackson develops into the new signal caller.

Defensively, Minden will need to rebuild with just five starters coming back but Reed and Combs again will be looked to for leadership on the line while the secondary will consist of Williams and White along with a supporting cast such as Jackson, Cameron Mitchell and Brennan Benton.

On the 2022 schedule, Minden locks up with Parkway on the road to begin the season before a showdown with last year's Class 1A champion Homer at The Pit. North Webster will host the Tide in their final pre-district tune-up on the slate. In league play, Minden hosts North DeSoto, Bossier, Evangel and Booker T. Washington while traveling to take on Huntington, Northwood and Woodlawn.
