April 22 Baseball & Softball National Rankings

LAKE CHARLES – With the postseason in full swing for Louisiana high school softball and baseball playoffs soon to start, several programs continue to rank high in multiple national media polls.

In baseball, Barbe High School (31-2) is listed in three different national polls with its highest rank coming in at No. 5 in the Baseball American Poll last week. The Bucs, winners of eight straight contests, come in at No. 6 in the Perfect Game poll as well as No. 6 in the MaxPreps Top 25.

Sam Houston (26-6) moved up one spot to No. 35 in the Perfect Game weekly polls. The Broncos have won seven of their last 10 games, all against district foes.

Louisiana now has two softball programs listed in the Top 10 of the latest NFCA High School Super 25. Barbe (28-2) is ranked at No. 9 and will meet district rival Sam Houston in the quarterfinals of the Class 5A state playoffs.

St. Amant (25-2) broke in at No. 10 and is also vying for a trip to Sulphur when it takes on Pineville on Saturday.
