Final Day of Girls’ Marsh Madness Sees Four Champions Crowned

HAMMOND – The LHSAA Girls’ Basketball Marsh Madness Tournament concluded with four highly-contested championship games Saturday.

The Lady Gators of Captain Shreve took down Benton in the Class 5A title game for its second championship in three years while John Curtis captured its fifth consecutive state title following a 43-49 win over top-seeded Mt. Carmel.

In Class 3A, Madison Prep took care of business and closed out its season as champions after deafeting Northwest, 49-37.

Lafayette Christian continued its journey to become of the top athletic programs in the state as the young school defeated mainstay St. Thomas Aquinas, 48-39, for the Division III state championship.
