Forest’s Ross, Westminster’s Turnage Named Softball Players of The Week

LAKE CHARLES – Forest’s Brooke Ross and Westminster’s Samantha Turnage have been named the GeauxPreps.com/LSCA Players of the Week for games played March 29-April 3.

The GeauxPreps.com/LSCA Players of the Week awards are announced each Monday following the collection of nominations from Louisiana Softball Coaches Association head coaching members. A hitter and a pitcher are selected from the list of nominees by a selection committee.

Player of the Week

Samantha Turnage, Westminster Christian

Turnage hit .875 for the week with a home run, three triples, a double and 11 RBI, helping Westminster Christian to an undefeated week. She turned in a 2.215 slugging percentage after turning in five extra-base hits while also scoring seven runs of her on. Her on-base percentage was outstanding as well having been walked five times over the course of the three-game stretch.

Pitcher of the Week

Brooke Ross, Forest

Ross, a Louisiana College signee, tossed three complete games for Forest, going 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA and struck out 49 of the 77 batters she faced. Ross’ week was highlighted by a 6-0 no-hitter she pitched against Family Christian. She finished the three-game stretch having gave up no walks and only allowed six hits in her 21 innings of work.
