Pump Up The Jamb: North Louisiana Teams Set For Exciting 2022 Bayou Jamb Event
The thrill and excitement of high school football returns as the city of Ruston transforms into Bayou Jamb country with the return of the two-day preseason event this weekend.
Since 2006, the annual event has featured some of the top football programs from across the state as they come together for one final preseason dress rehearsal. In 2022, the event’s director Patti Thurmon decided to make the move from the previous host ULM to Louisiana Tech’s Joe Aillet Stadium.
This year’s event features seven attractive contests, two on Friday and five on Saturday, including a 7 p.m. showdown between Distritct 1-5A rivals Ruston and West Monroe. Also set to highlight the event are programs that have recently won a state championship in Oak Grove, Ouachita Christian and Evangel.
Among the festivities is a halftime salute to the year’s recipients of the Bayou Jamb Lifetime Achievement Award in former Ouachita Christian head coach Micah Harper, former Haynesville assistant and Ruston head coach Tommy Reeder as well as a posthumous salute to longtime West Monroe assistant Scott Stone.
Other events include a Taste of the Tailgate Cook-Off on Wednesday, Aug. 24 and a First Down 5K event set for Saturday, Aug. 27.
Tickets are still available and may be purchased through the event’s website or through each participating school. Kids aged five and under are free through general admission.
