MONROE – The St. Paul’s and Tioga boys powerlifting squads brought home state titles in their respective divisions on the final day of the LHSAA State Powerlifting Championships Saturday.

St. Paul’s scored its first championship victory since 2013 as it outscored runner-up Holy Cross, 46-27, in Division I. Saturday’s tile win was the Wolves’ third in school history.

Holy Cross’ Stafford Agee was awarded the Most Outstanding Lifter award for the 114 to 165 weight class while Ethan Yodanza took home the honors for the 181 to Super Heavyweight class for Mandeville.

In Division II, Tioga hauled in its fifth state championship with a 39-33 win over North Vermilion. The Indians had four individual state champions and were led by Joshua Ponthier’s performance that earned him the heavyweight division’s Most Outstanding Lifter award.

South Terrebonne’s Cody Pellegrin was named Division II’s lightweight Most Outstanding Lifter after taking home the state title in the 165 pound weight class.
