Kicking Is The Name Of The Game

The kicking game seemed to be one of the biggest highlights Friday night with record-breaking field goals and last-second victories sending shockwaves through the social media-verse.

Parkway’s Aeron Burrell, an LSU commit, kicked a Bossier Parish-record 55-yard field in Parkway’s 33-0 victory over Red River Friday night. It was the longest of his career with those in attendance stating that his kick would have been good from at least 60-yards out.

St. Charles kicker Tyler Milioto booted a last-second field goal to give the Comets a 16-14 victory over Lutcher in a battle of defending state champions Friday night. It’s the second consecutive year that St. Charles has taken the win over the Bulldogs in games decided by two points or less.

Record-Breaking Performances Light Up The Scoreboard

Vermilion Catholic’s Jonathan Dartez set school records for most yards rushing (359) and most carries (31) Friday night in a comeback victory over Ascension Episcopal on Friday.

Dartez scored three times with his longest run coming for 70 yards on a touchdown to tie the ballgame in the second quarter.

In Carencro’s 60-14 victory over Barbe, several performances highlighted the evening including a school-record six passing touchdowns from sophomore quarterback Chantz Babineaux.

Senior Kameron Cyprien brought in four catches for 152 yards and three touchdowns for the Bears and even contributed on defense with a sack and now has 4.5 sacks through two games this season.

Eat. Sleep. Keep The Streak.

Destrehan continued to add to the state’s longest high school football win streak Friday night with its 16th consecutive victory following a 24-7 thrashing of John Ehret in non-district action.

The last time Destrehan lost was on Dec. 3, 2021 as eventual state title winner Zachary downed the Wildcats, 34-13.

Lutcher’s string of 14 consecutive victories was snapped following a 16-14 loss to St. Charles in a battle of defending state champions. The Bulldogs’ last loss came to St. Charles a year ago before it started its win streak.

Oak Grove lost for the first time in 10 contests while Ouachita Christian locked down its 11th straight win with 28-7 victory over the Tigers on Friday.

Following 12 straight losses, plus a winless season in 2022, Hamilton Christian picked up a well-deserved 26-6 victory over Highland Baptist in head coach Dexter Washington’s return to the sidelines.
