Ruston Freshman Ahmad Hudson Nabs Boy’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors

In a week filled with intense matchups and impressive performances, Ruston High School’s freshman forward, Ahmad Hudson, emerges as the recipient of the Boys Basketball Player of the Week honor, presented by Visit Lake Charles. Hudson’s exceptional contributions on the court played a pivotal role in the Bearcats’ undefeated run against formidable opponents.
Throughout the week, Hudson showcased a level of excellence that truly stood out. Facing off against tough competitors like Calvary Baptist and Pineville, the freshman forward averaged a double-double, recording an impressive 24 points and 16 rebounds per game. His impact extended beyond scoring and rebounding, as he demonstrated defensive prowess with an average of five blocked shots, two steals, and an assist in both contests.
The performances against Calvary Baptist and Pineville underscored Hudson’s versatility and ability to make a significant impact on both ends of the court. His scoring ability, coupled with an impressive defensive presence, solidified his status as a standout player.
Ruston High School, currently holding a 11-7 record on the year, sits at sixth place in the LHSAA Non-Select Division I playoff power rating projections. The Bearcats, under the guidance of head coach Ryan Bond, have faced a challenging schedule, competing against 15 teams with winning records out of the 18 played so far.
