LHSAA Softball Championship Tickets On Sale; No Capacity Limits Announced

LAKE CHARLES — Single session tickets for the 2021 LHSAA Softball State Championships presented went on sale to the general public Wednesday through GoFan.co. The tournament is slated to be held April 29-May 1 at North Frasch Park in Sulphur.

Each day will feature two sessions of games played throughout the park. Admission costs $13 per session.

Coaches cards will not be accepted for the softball championships due to the short notice between the announcement from Governor Edwards and the start date of the event. Technology required to scan the cards also played a factor.

In accordance with Governor Jon Bel Edwards’ latest proclamation that rolled back limitations on outdoor events as well as lifted the statewide mask mandate, the LHSAA announced that there would be no capacity limits at its softball and baseball championship events.

“Great news,” LHSAA Executive Director Eddie Bonine commented on Tuesday. “We had been in dialogue with our spring sports venues in case we received the news that was announced today. We are excited for the student participants and their families.”

This weekend’s softball finale marks the first time in over a year that the state association will hold a championship event at full capacity. The last event to be held at full capacity occurred in March 2020 as the boys’ state basketball championships were ongoing until the last few days when the association had to cut back on capacity due to new measures issued by the federal and state governments.

Since then, the association has successfully held championships for all sports, in correlation to regulations set forth by health officials, including its Football Prep Classic and Marsh Madness events at limited capacities.
